Living this kind of life means you get plenty of time to ponder on stuff. Some of it’s big stuff (like the meaning of life), and some of it’s not so big
(like how to convince your wife to go cruising). None the less, this is where you’ll find our rants and ramblings about what we’ve been thinking about
lately. Feel free to comment and join the conversation.
The Sound of Silence
The nature of our ministry means we get to anchor our boat all over the South Pacific. Depending on the weather conditions, sometimes the anchorages are a bit rough and you get a noisy sea swell slapping on the side of the boat. If we anchor close to a town wall or marina, you can often hear music coming from a local restaurant
Riding the Storm
Ask any sailor and they’ll tell you that changing weather conditions are a big headache, especially on a long passage. Most skippers embarking on a journey will research various forecasts and cross-match the information to get an accurate picture of what lays ahead.

Consider It Pure Joy
When James wrote “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds” (James 1:2), I’m pretty sure he was writing to me. After nearly 11 weeks on the hard, we’ve had one trial after another and it’s safe to say I’m almost done. What...
Keeping Calm in Times of Change
It’s been 4 years since we started to seriously think about selling up and going cruising. It’s been a year since we bought Hapai and 6 months since we got official live aboard status. While the set-sail date in May marks a major milestone in our journey, so much...
Convincing Your Wife to Go Cruising
Both Rob and I belong to a bunch of Facebook groups that are all dedicated to the cruising life. They’re a great place to ask questions and people chat about everything from chart-plotters to chilly-bins. Lately there’s been a lot of questions about ‘how to convince...
